Anyone here make over $100k+ a year and still take the train to work everyday (because you live outside Manhattan)?
Just wondering, because Manhattan is so expensive to rent. Anyone here have a salary of over $100k+ but does not live physically in Manhattan, but live in the other boroughs of NYC or New Jersey? Do you have a high salary but still take the train to work everyday like the other peasants?
1hr Commute?
I'm thinking of commuting for 2 months during my summer internship, which would be approx 1 hour each way. I'd be in S&T so probably early mornings meaning i'd wake up at 5am and get home 8pm (?). Rent would be near 1000/month and probably reduce the commute to 20 mins or so. Commuting would be from...
NYC Housing in 2021
Hey all, Moving to NYC in May before starting in IB in June. I've seen other threads on this topic but most are stale. I'd love to hear any and all thoughts on the following. Is living in Brooklyn worth it?
Any of you have any insight into whether it's worth it to live in Brooklyn and commute to work in the city (particularly Midtown)? I'll be starting FT in IB next year and am looking into housing options. I'd like to keep my budget below $2000, and ideally live alone. I know there are some pretty...

Commuting: LIRR and Metro North
I just read an old thread about commuting, and it seemed like the general consensus was that a commute of >1 hr and finance hours do not mix. One aspect that the thread seemed to overlook was that most people were referring to driving or taking a subway. I was wondering what the consensus on the...

Manhattan to Greenwich Commute
Recently got an offer in Greenwich and thinking about living in Manhattan to be closer to friends/nightlife/etc. (Wiki says it takes 45-60 min. to get from Grand Central to the Greenwich station.) Does anyone here do this? Did it get unbearably tiring after a while? From your experience, has it been...
Dressing for the Daily Commute
As financial professionals, most of us have to wear some variation of The Suit and Tie to work every day. Most of us live in large cities and either walk or rely on public transportation for the daily commute. And while we spend the vast majority of our waking lives in fluorescent-lit,...

What is the maximum time you would commute each way as an intern? 1 hour? While we're on the topic, analyst commute time? Long commute times as an intern If you are not working long hours commuting long distances is not usually an issue. A commute of around 45 minutes is reasonable if the hours are...
How long is your commute? - Drive or take mass transit?
I was wondering how long everyone's commute to work is. Do you drive or take mass transit? I will be starting my first full time job out of college in June as an analyst. Driving to an interview?
So I have an interview in NYC coming up and due to other events going on I have to drive to the city rather than just take a train. I would rather drive to the outskirts of the city, park, and take a train into the city from Westchester or one of the Boroughs. I was hoping someone would be able to...
