Inside School Admission guides

Hi WSOs,

I'm applying to business schools later this year in R1 and R2. I am considering buying one of the Admission Guides - the guides that tell you everything about the school like traits the AdCom is looking for, learning method, distinguishable features and stats on jobs and student demographics. This is really an Insiders guide. Mostly it helps you answer the Why School essay since every AdCom wants you to visit the school and get this info, rather than glean some generic info off their website. Unfortunately not everyone has time for this so ClearAdmit, MBAMission, Veritas have guides you can buy for $25 each.

I'm looking for people who want to share the expense and share the guides. Why spend twice for the same thing.

So, I recently got the WSO Business School Bible, and after making it through the 520-page book this week, I am honestly surprised to say how good it was. I have never used any of the WSO guides (mainly because they did not exist when I was doing banking interviews), but I can say that this one is good and definitely got me in the right state of mind to start the next phase of the b-school application process (which, if you read my last post, kicked off late last week: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/blog/b-school-appli...).

So without further ado, here is my review of the WSO Business School Bible:

Getting ready to start FT investment banking in a boutique and we have to take the series 79 exam. I have a few free weeks prior to training and was wondering if I should start studying now, just to get it out of the way.

I am not sure if my firm will provide some sort of study materials for it, but if I start getting ready now, what study guide should I use? Any free ones out there?

Fellow Primates,

As interview season kicks into full swing, we want our WSO members to be as prepared as possible. With the help of experienced finance professionals, Wall Street Oasis has built a selection of guides to help you succeed throughout the job application process. With 11 now available, we have sold THOUSANDS of copies and have received incredible feedback from the community. Read some of the testimonials here.

In 2010 we added new offerings to the library and updated our most popular technical guide to include a sample financial model as well as a flashcard edition allowing you to easily practice the most common interview questions.

Check out the selection of guides, along with testimonials on the guide page.. Good luck in all of your upcoming interviews!

Technical Interview Guide Notecards

Hey Patrick, you should consider making a stack of notecards for the technical questions. I'm making my own right now, and it took me about 3 hours just to do the basic questions for most (not even all) of the sections. I imagine people would be willing to pay for this sort of thing (I personally would have been willing to pay $30+ for it).

Hey everyone, long time reader, first time poster. I'll be a junior this year and want to really prepare for interviews for IB SA 2010. I haven't ever been through any interviews (informational or formal) and want to know what everyone who has been successful has done to prepare. Also, best ways to reach out and network for informational interviews with alums before the real interviews in the winter?

What guides does everyone use? How are the WSO guides? Vault?

I know there are postings on this already, but figured going into interview season we could get a new list of advice going.
