BB's that doing FT Analyst recruiting for FICC?

For FICC/Macro desks (FX, Rates, Commodities, etc) at BB's, which banks do FT (not just SA) recruiting at target schools? From what I've read/heard, these Analyst classes are increasingly (and at some firms only) made up from SA conversion.

Does anybody have any insight into top names in this space that conduct Full Time Analyst OCR at target schools? Also interested in FT OCR for strategy/research in the same areas.

Thanks

if banks don't do OCR at your school

i want to break into IB but major banks do not do OCR at my school in January-Feb when the resume due dates and interviews are. If i go to their website career section, they simply say to check with your school career center for dates. How can i still apply and make sure I am considered for the position?

Getting rejected/how do you get internships and jobs?!

I'm a junior, taking a leave of absence due to a minor health reason (I've completed first semester of my third year, and took a leave beginning spring semester)
I wanted to gain some experience while not in school, so I applied to a few internships I found online - through Indeed, Monster, etc. I've been getting some replies from small firms (startups, small local firms, no big names) showing interest, but I also applied to Boeing, Nissan and Chrysler marketing/finance internships, only to be rejected by Chrysler (and with no replies from others). I was a bit shocked - not that I was confident in getting all those jobs, but I thought I had a fair chance of at least getting an interview.

OCR First Round Interviews - "Drop by in case someone cancels"

I was referred to one of the alumni involved with recruiting on campus for his bank through a mutual contact and, when he heard I had missed the resume drop, he told me to drop by on interview day and they'd slot me in for an interview if someone cancelled. Is this a genuine door cracked open or is he just being nice? I know that he could have simply told me "tough luck." I'm debating showing up ready to interview and spending the day there in case of the rare possibility anyone does cancel/not show up (highly unlikely). The person who referred me said that if I show initiative and hunger, they may even interview me even if there isn't a cancellation. Another person (not in the industry, but in b-school) told me that it was a little weird.

So, I am applying to some internship positions for this summer using a variety of job posting sites. I am applying to boutique, MM, and BB IBDs. For the MM and BB applications, I am obviously re-directed to the bank's central career page for the application.

I would like to get a little bit of input from people regarding the process of applying through these main career portals. Is it worth it? Have people actually received calls from HR referencing their on-line application to IB and Capital Markets SA positions? I am doubtful of this after all the OCR dust has settled, but was wondering if anyone had any miracles occur in the past.

Monkeys,
I am currently a sophomore at a semi-target and have a problem with OCR. All the BBs along with MBB recruit on campus and have information sessions but most of them revolve around ops and MO/BO. How can I use the current OCR to get to FO without offending anyone of the BO recruiters?

Hey everybody, I've been trying to find the answers to my questions about OCR using the search function, but to no avail. So here are my questions, hope you guys can help me out :D

I'm a junior applying for SA positions for next summer, attending a semi-target/regional target.

1. It seems like OCR runs throughout the duration of the semester, is that right?
2. Are information sessions a part of OCR? If not, what exactly is considered OCR? A booth at the career fair?
3. Do banks ever conduct OCR for international positions?
4. I am a junior studying abroad this semester. Am I at a disadvantage considering I won't be on campus when OCR happens this fall?

After you talk to people from on-campus info sessions, what's the best way to write a follow up e-mail? I mean...what's there to talk about? Isn't it so blatantly obvious that I'm contacting them just so they might like/remember me and give me an interview in January?

Long story short, I had a tuition issue that ended up with me having my login credentials blocked until it was sorted out. This was during the deadlines for a few of the banks on my OCR so I just went ahead and applied on their website which told me to make sure I also submitted to OCR.
Tuition issue now sorted, deadline has passed and I only have applications out on the bank's website and not OCR. How fucked am I? They interview 1st round on campus so I presume my school is a target.

two questions for all you smart experienced monkeys

one if you're guaranteed first rounds, and first rounds are mostly fit questions - how do the people doing those phone interviews decide who moves on to the second round? What do they look for (besides not being socially inept?)

two if you are applying to more than one office location, and want to keep both options open when you're interviewing, does it hurt to mention things about one office - how can you personalize your cover letter and mention the contacts you have, without putting the other location off entirely? any suggestions on how to tactfully word it are appreciated....

From a recruiter point of view, is this frowned upon? Students probably frown on this, but I've landed 0 interviews anywhere so far. A friend at a regional semi target gave me her OCR log in. I will in no way apply to the listings through her OCR/ upload my own resume but just email the contact they list and give a brief 3-4 sentence paragraph selling myself and attaching the resume. There's no possible way for my friends OCR to get cut off

I'm going through FT recruiting now but keep getting rejected for on-campus interviews!! I can't believe this because I have top-tier BB internships and my GPA is quite high at target. I was invited to almost all BB interviews before, so I didn't see this coming at all. Is economy that bad now? Or is it because of something else?

Guys, I need some advice. I'm working in NYC doing an investment banking internship for this semester. I'm also taking some time to apply for SA positions for next summer. But, I won't be on campus, and I'm using my university's job board to apply. How do I convey to the recruiter that I won't be on campus? My address is already the one in NYC and my internship says Aug - Present.

I've already been accepted for a MM bank interview and contacted their HR to get this problem fixed. Hopefully I can do a phone interview.

But, how do I let them know on my resume. My advisor recommends me to attach a 2nd page to my resume stating that I won't be on campus. I just feel like that will hurt my chances. Don't know. What do you guys think?

Hi so basically I go to a non-target one of my good friends goes to a target but is non business major and gave me access to his OCR. I found two banks who are looking for F.T and they have contact information listed on the application. Do you think I should contact them, email explain my story that I really want this. I was thinking of uploading my resume, but that would be unethical and could get me and my friend in trouble.

Has anyone have experience with this? Do you think this can work? I'm trying everything I can to break in, alumni, non-alumni, and now this.

What's the real outlook for 2011 recruiting for graduates? If the US/UK/Europe is not the place to be -- for any job--then where?

I had a very depressing time with an offer pulled from a top 3 asset manager. This was 2008. Fast-forward 3 years--I off-cycled until I earned some lucky breaks (I've never earned a bonus in my life).

For my students and mentees who may be in a tough spot again: Where do you guys recommend shooting those apps? Asia? Consulting? Anything but finance?

If you have specific firm yields or can guess what September would be like, that would help too.

**Actually, instead guessing around and waiting for recommendations like an Obozo, let's formulate an actionable strategy**

Hey all, I just finished my undergrad here in the States and didn't end up with the offer I wanted, but took one in consulting instead. My plan is basically to work there for a year and then do a two-year masters overseas. What are my options as far as reentering the U.S. job market into IB? Is it possible to do an SA role after the first year? What is the best way of approaching this, given the lack of OCR at the grad school?

Has anyone gone through their school's OCR after graduating already? At my school, which a good amount of banks recruit from, alumni can pay a fee to have access to the job listing website and submit our resumes. I've been out of school for a little more than a year now, but would like to apply for an analyst position that would start next summer. Has anyone gone through OCR post graduation or know anyone that's done it? Thanks!

Does getting a certificate in say Banking or Finance from a university like NYU (SCPS) or Columbia give you access to any OCR? Or for that matter, aside from personal learning does it provide any networking opportunities at all? It would be a small price( ~$3800) to pay for access to NYU's career services offices and their recruiting network.

For the summer, I'm interning at a boutique investment bank that focuses primarily on sell-side advisory. We work with consumer-brands, particularly in apparel, etc.

I'll keep this short - I'm also planning on interviewing full-time for consulting. The particular consulting firm I'm looking at offers an earlier round of interviews (late August to early September) to beat the OCR rush, which I'm planning to do.

However, I'm also interested in exploring some PE firms. I know my chances are slim, especially coming from an undergrad level, but I'm interested in the retail/consumer goods space and I have a good idea of some PE firms that I'd be interested in exploring further.

So i'm say I go to a semi-target school in NYC think Baruch, Pace, Fordham. I have a friend who goes to a target but is a pre-med major and doesn't mind if i use his schools recruiting services when it comes to FT recruiting this fall. Has anyone tried this? what are the repercussions for this? Will they find it unethical and blacklist me?

I have a 3.5GPA
Deans List
Honors Program

but no internship, i'm still applying, going call up a BB wealth mgmt office in BK.

I'm wondering should i both applying to compaines with finance/accounting internships like Interbrand, Buro Happold?

Should i be going for any type of internship that invovles finance/accouting regardless if its a known company?

I've been offered a position as an intern, with a promise of a FT analyst role to follow if I impress at above bank. The position is real solid and something I have looked for, whilst also applying for MPP/MSF programs. They mentioned the role is specified in this manner because of my untraditional background (i.e. law grad)

My conundrum is shall I accept this role, which is EXPENSES ONLY and work hard, network my ass off for a FT analyst position or I go back to school and another chance at OCR?

So I applied for a summer internship on my school's career site. Through the site, I was informed that I was not selected for an interview. The company will be on campus next week, still before interviews, for a career fair.

Is it worth it to talk to them at the fair?
Can I make a good enough impression there to get an interview after all?
Will this kind of persistence hurt me if I go for FT there next year?

How Important are Online Applications for Targets?

Hi all,

With resume drops around the corner, I was wondering how important the online applications were in addition to submitting an application through resume drops? Most of these places want you to submit an online formal application as well, but many of them are pretty tedious, with many pages for you to fill in leadership achievement/IT Skills, just stuff that is already more or less covered in the Resume/Cover letter.

Is the online app a formality for those attending targets with resume drops? Should I fill these out in its entirety, or assume that my resume/CL are the only things being read by my school team?

Thanks all for responses in advance!

I had a question about studying abroad and how it conflicts with on campus recruiting. There are some consulting firms that will be recruiting at my school within the next month or two, however, I just contacted HR and they told me that I would need to be present (on campus) for the interviews.

Does this differ from firm to firm? Because I recently interviewed with a MBB and they were very accommodating conducting the interview via phone. Anyway, how do I combat this issue? I would hate to be disadvantaged for studying abroad.

Hi all,

I have been lurking on this forum a while without posting, and I have a question that has been bugging me for some time.

How difficult is it to get first round interviews at Targets like (Dartmouth, Columbia, Penn, Yale)? How many people end up applying, and how many first rounds are given out (assuming that the banks come on campus to interview)? Is it crucial to aggressively network at these places (cold emailing, cold calling, info interviews, etc)?

-What do you think seperates Citi from other BB S&T?
-What is Citi known for?

-Anything unique to the analyst experience?
-Any other comments are welcomed.

Very happy to be interviewing, looking forward to hearing what you guys have to say. Thanks.
