Geico Summer Leadership Internship Interview - Insurance

Anonymous employee in Tucson

College / University / On Campus Recruiting
Length of Process
Less than 1 month
Application
Phone Interview
1 on 1 Interview
Skills Test
IQ / Intelligence Test
Interview
I first applied online and then was emailed to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview lasted about 30 minutes and consisted of behavioral questions. I was then invited to the next stage of the process which is a personality/skills tests. After passing the tests, they moved me onto the next step the same day which was a 1-1 interview with a recruiter and then moved me again to an interview with the regional manager. They called by the end of the day with an offer.
Interview Questions
"What would make you choose this position over a different internship offer from another company" I basically said that I was interested in an internship that actually added value to the company as well as my own skillset. Also that I was looking for a company that offers positions after internship is over. Other questions revolved around what I would do to create incentives for unmotivated employees. It was kind of vague so I asked for more clarification and essentially answered that I would look for what the employee was passionate about and then go from there to assign them a meaningful job.

Interview
On campus recruiting, phone interview, personality & IQ test. After passing, had a skills test on-site then a 1:1 interview.
Interview Questions
How would you lead a team with members from very different backgrounds? Some of the IQ test questions were a little rough, a lot of pattern recognition. They seemed to put a big deal into whether you would commit to them full-time after graduating and whatnot. On-site interview was relatively chill and they did some role-play to help you understand the entry level position employees that you would be supervising and ideally managing in the future. Overall an easy interview that just tested soft business questions.

Interview
Very quick turn around. Started with a phone screen, then personality test. Then was invited in person interview.
Interview Questions
A lot of questions about why you wanted this specific position.
I was not expecting any of the assessments either. They test your writing skills, excel skills, and give you a personality assessment. Drug and background checks are very thourogh. Other than that, it is mostly behavioral questions. They aren't too bad. Ask you about all your past experiences and how the skills you got there will help you with the job you're interviewing for. As long as you are nice and friendly and appear to fit the company culture, you'll be fine.

Interview
A representative called me the day after application submitted and interview consisted of a phone screen
Interview Questions
They asked about all the other internships I applied to, which was a lot.
They asked a lot about leadership. They also asked why I wanted to work here and how they would benefit if I worked there. They gave me some background information about the internship such as the time and duties and pay. Only about 4 very short questions were asked, basic behavioral and leadership questions.
Overall, interviewers were very cold.

Interview
I was contacted with an email a week after I had applied online to set up a phone interview. The phone interview was set up 2 weeks later and it consisted of the usual behavioral questions, mostly about leadership and team building experience. A day later I got a call and an e-mail with a link for HireVue. This recorded "interview" was also behavioral in nature- 11 questions, 3 minutes to respond and record yourself, then 30 seconds to read the question. a couple of the questions were long, so most of the 30 seconds you spent on reading the question instead of preparing for it!
Interview Questions
Question about which is most important in deciding on insurance premium- age, car make or location? tell me 3 things about your home town? tell me of a time when you were innovative in solving a problem?

Interview
Initially contacted by a recruiter about a month after applying online. I was asked to fill out a questionnaire, cover letter, resume, and transcripts. After I turned in the requested materials, I was asked to perform an online analytical test which was very easy. About a day after completing the test, I was asked to set up a general phone interview. The interview was very straight forward mostly behavioral questions and why GEICO. After I was flown to the DC metro area where I interviewed with a manager, sr manager, and director. once again straight forward behavioral questions, why GEICO, why DC, why retention.

There were no difficult or unexpected interview questions. All questions were based on past experience. Do your research on GEICO

Interview
I applied though a posting on my school's career website. I was contacted by email about two weeks later, asking me to fill out a form with some information such as SAT scores. I got another email about a week later asking me to take an online test that asked reasoning/logic questions. Took about an hour and a half. A few questions were fairly difficult, but nothing too bad. Seemed a lot like the LSAT. Someone contacted me about 1-2 weeks later to set up a phone interview. Asked fairly standard behavioral questions and about computer experiences. Asked me to rate my experience with excel etc. Nothing too unusual, although a very strong emphasis on experience with specific software. I thought the interview went well, but they said they would get back to me in 1-2 weeks but never did.
Interview Questions
Mostly just the general questions -- tell me about a time your worked on a team, worked with data, etc. Asked me to discuss my technical skills. Wanted me to rank everything on a scale from 1-10.
