Interview Questions
Describe in detail how a new leveraged loan is set up and allocates. How does it differ for refinancings/restructures? What are financial covenants? How does a loan deal structure work? Can you describe whether you think bonds or loans for a specific company are more liquid? Would loans be higher on the seniority structure than bonds? Describe mezzanine debt, bullet loans, amortizing loans, revolving credits, etc. mean. Other technical questions that you see more often for banking jobs were asked (just basic ones) - I don't really remember them exactly.

My answer was about having more potential in my career further down and how I wanted to re-invent myself with higher education, as well as having broader exposure to the industry.

Interview
The quant research division in Chicago (i.e. Naperville) is no-nonsense. They did not ask trick questions, like "how many manholes are there in the city off London?" The initial phone interview was not intimidating; they merely prod for basic qualifications like graduate level portfolio-theoretic knowledge. The research team splits up during in-person interviews, individually asking mMATLAB or modeling questions...basic describe this, describe that. They have backgrounds in mathematics, physics, operations research. You should feel at ease, these guys aren't rude, or arrogant. In fact, it was like chatting with my professors. No stress.
Interview Questions
Describe a bootstrapped VaR model versus a parametric one. What is the intuition behind the Kalman filter? What do you believe causes the momentum anomaly? Oddly, they also asked some basic accounting questions

Interview
Little information provided about the hiring process. It seemed very unorganized. I was told that I was going to meet with someone in the HR group as the screening interview, and that I would meet with the President and COO in subsequent interviews. I was asked to accommodate their busy schedules by being available on short notice and early in the morning. After clearing my schedule for the next two days because they couldn't commit, I was left hanging. Neither the company nor the recruiter communicated anything. I was told 5 days later that they had already filled the position. This was a completely inappropriate and unprofessional way to treat candidates.
Interview Questions
There were no difficult or unexpected interview questions. I was being interviewed by someone lower in the organization than the job, with almost no knowledge of the functional area.
