Interview
Had a phone interview at first with analyst. Then interviewed again with 3 more analysts / associates within a week.
Interview Questions
Hardest question they asked was which item would a EBITDA negative company rather have, deferred revenue or accounts receivables. Then they asked to walk them thru 10 dollars depreciation. Afterwards, they asked about the current fin tech trends that are happening as well as my previous experience. Besides that, the interview was fairly behavioral and the people were very nice to speak with and things like that. Hardest question they asked was which item would a EBITDA negative company rather have, deferred revenue or accounts receivables.

Phone Interview
Interview
The hiring process consisted of a traditional phone screen with an initial analyst/associate. Those that passed the phone screen got a and additional few phone calls.
Interview Questions
The majority of the interview was fit and situational based. A lot of the questions dealt with why do you want to work here? Tell me about yourself, Tell me about your past work experiences etc. I also received some low level technicals - walk me though a DCF, tell me how 10 dollars of depreciation flows through the 3 financial statements. The hardest questions that I received was related the standard "walk me from how to get to FCF from Revenue. The exception for this question was that they asked how to get to Levered FCF not Unlevered FCF.

Interview
Had a phone interview with a member of the firm. Laid back guy. Couple technical questions that were pretty easy. Just wanted to hear my background.
Interview Questions
Nothing too difficult came up. Standard questions about my background, why banking, why I wanted to join the firm, and what made me qualified. They really hammered on what made me interested and wanted to see my thinking process. If you know your story and why you want to do banking, you should be fine. Know how a DCF works, be able to talk about a deal that interests you, and make sure you know accounting. They want to see that you can come into the office and contribute to the analysts' work.

Interview
First round interview by phone that was somewhat technical on accounting, but not valuation. Then an in-person interview that was mostly casual with technical aspects. Nothing too crazy, just basics of valuation. Asked about experience with CapIQ, VDRs, excel and powerpoint. Then had 2 hours to complete a basic 3 statement model and do a few slides.
Interview Questions
-Software revenue recognition differences. What is the typical way a perpetual vs recurring license would flow through a P&L - seemed like it was just one guy who was hammering accounting questions. Understand deferred revenue and you are good.

-Other stuff was hammering follow-up questions on deal experience (if applicable, based on your resume). Be sure to mention what you actually did and be specific. The team is small and appears to want to make sure you can actually do the actions claimed on your resume.

First contact was an initial phone call with an alumni. He asked me why investment banking and why the firm.

Second contact was a first round phone interview, all fit questions.

Final round was at the firm in New York City. Interviewed with 2 analysts, an associate, and vice president.
Interview Questions
What would you tell me about you that's not on your resume? What are your 3 biggest weaknesses? They ask about the situational aspect of transactions. The VP was very difficult to understand because he is from France and has an accent.

Interview
Reached out to the HR person after the firm came on campus for a small presentation. Then she forwarded my resume to some of the people in the office. I first got a phone screen by one of the analysts. Nothing too hard, just walk through resume and talk about my previous experiences. I then was invited into the office where I had 4 back-to-back interviews. The questions this time were a bit technical focused but everything were still pretty simple. They asked me stuff like walk through a DCF, changes on the three statements, accretion/dilution analysis, etc.
Interview Questions
Walk me through a DCF
What happens to the 3 statements if deferred revenue goes up by 10
How do you treat NOLs in a DCF?
