Does this career path make sense?
Hello, I'm pretty new to exploring the different career options out there in finance, and I'm trying to come up with an end goal for myself.
I'm definitely interested in working in financial markets and I think Asset Management would be something I'd want to end up in someday.
Would this career path plausibly make sense? F500 Corporate Finance => Top MBA (and/or CFA) => Asset Management (analyst?)
Thanks!
It's not a traditional path, but if you go to an MBA business schools ">M7 business school it's possible. Another way to do it is via the CFA certification - you can still take L1 this December and have L2 done by June. In the world of AM the CFA designation is a lot more sought after than an MBA.
Thank you for the response. If I did get my CFA (L1 and 2), what sort of entry-level job titles should I look for that are more relevant to AM than F500 FP&A? Would these jobs be attainable coming from a non-target or are they super exclusive like IB? Thanks
