I do not think a masters in accounting would help much in general management/strategy consulting. Unless you want to be an accountant, no need to get a MS in accounting (over BS)

there is no need to get the MS
however, knowing enough to converse about accounting is INTEGRAL to many areas of consulting
even in SC you have to know what financial statements are and impacts to financial statements of organizational change
in TC you're often implementing accounting systems
in MC you have jobs that are accounting related even if you do no real accounting work (what functions do you think you're doing process assessments for...)
in short, don't do the MS but don't take accounting knowledge for granted. only take an extra year or semester for the MS if you struck out in recruiting and need another year of OCR
