How similar is the day to day work of a strategy consultant to case interviews?
See the title. I'm going to work FT in strategy consulting soonish and I was wondering how similar the day-to-day work is compared to case interviews.

I'll be quite honest, I find the comparison like night and day. In a case interview, they scratch the surface of a 2-4 month engagement into a highly summarized business case for which you're expected to structure and think on the spot. In my current role, I have never been asked to create an issue tree framework from scratch. The firm has an abundance of existing frameworks, IP and resources, so in any given engagement, you're not starting with a paper and pencil.
This is my view of it at least, but I find that the consulting work is arguably easier than the interview process. This is largely due to the training provided, the support, resources and investment the firm makes and the fact that you're not judged based on 1-2 hrs of performance, but the aggregation of your work over the few months on an engagement.
