I want to ask should I get a letter of recommendation from my colleague who is an ex-FAANG financial controller and currently a financial analyst in my team. I ask this because I am currently interviewing with the same FAANG firm he worked for and have a good working relationship with him. To give some context I have been interning at this F100 firm for 6 months and while I don't have too much responsibility I think he'd write a generous LOR.

Just my two cents- unless the application asks for a letter of recommendation, I wouldn't bother. FAANGs are so huge, and the tenure is often pretty short. Getting a LOR from a previous employee probably isn't worth anything. It can't hurt you, so maybe go ahead and ask (especially since you are an intern), but for entry level jobs they probably first make sure your GPA is high enough, second make sure you had a real internship, third look for any negatives, and then likely invite for a phone screen. Not as in-depth as for a higher level role.
