Any pathway from big 4 to ER?
I’m working in big 4 capital market and accounting advisory team as a senior con, about to get promoted to manager and thinking of my way out from Big 4 to ER (if possible). I’m a CPA with master of accounting and an MBA. should I target for entry level ER programs? any possibilities for more senior role? I’ve got a finance undergrad degree and am a CFA level 2 candidate. any ideas welcomed!
No idea how many years of experience you have, but if you have a particular industry expertise, I don’t see any reason to believe that you couldn’t move to ER in a Senior associate or potentially even VP role. But there are a lot of variables. Your background could definitely get you into ER though.
thanks for the reply! I’ve got 4 years experience, 1 year audit, 1 year commercial due diligence, and 2 years into my accounting advisory role now. you think I’d be better off to stay in Big 4 after promotion? or that manager experience doesn’t add much for switching to ER? many thanks!
To be honest I don't know what being a manager in consulting entails, so I can't say for sure whether or not it will make a difference in your transition. But I would say that if you know you want to make the transition you should try to do it earlier rather than later in your career.
