Best Divsion Before ER

Hey all!

I'm currently in London at a target looking to get into ER.

If I am unable to land a FT role/summer internship in ER, what's the best career alternative/division, that will help place me at a BB in ER long-term?

Smaller firm/boutique focusing on ER,
IBD (BB or Boutique),
Asset Management,
Something else?

Thanks!

If the places you are looking at are all small shops (not a name brand boutique), start in what you want to be in.

However, I would still tell you to go with IBD if you have even a thought that ER is not your long term goal. You will have far greater flexibility in terms of long term FT positions if you go with banking in the early days. It is quite easy to move from banking to ER, AM, or any of a dozen other fields. Getting into IBD from other fields is much harder.
