Got an interview for a equity analyst job, which I don't have the experience required

Long/short equity fund with $1 billion AUM. In the job description, it clearly stated 3 year experience in tier 1 institution on buy side or sell side needed, which I don't have. How would I convince them I am still capable of the job? My background is MBA, CFA level III candidate and few years experience in corporate finance. Many thanks!

Skinnayyy:

nail all the technicals. have some stocks that you could pitch (max 3)

This^^^. Be able to logically explain how you would value a company, have a clear and concise ST/LT economic outlook, good & bad investments that have worked out for you (and what you learned), etc.

I just got a FI analyst position and this is pretty much what I was asked. As well as financial statement type technical questions. Good luck!!

The experience requirement is nothing more than a screening mechanism for resumes. You have not pulled the woll over their eyes - they are fully aware and decided to interview you because they believe that in lieu of the 3 years yada yada yada, your experience is adequate enough to do the job. Therefore, I wouldn't say you are at as big of a disadvantage as you think you are going in - just treat it like any other job interview: be likeable, prepared and collected.
