UBS/DB or GS
Hi all,
I have an offer from a few different banks including GS, UBS and DB in London as a first year analyst. Does anyone have a recommendation of which to join? Especially with Mifid II in mind? Also does it matter which team you join? Or is the sector not super important?
Thanks!
Join DB if you like cock
I mean, GS...right?
Why do you say that LeveredBetaBoy
Well you mentioned MiFID II and posted in the ER forum, which leads me to believe you're deciding between competing ER positions at these banks. What desk you'll be on is very important, and I'd place the most emphasis on the analyst you'll be working under, but all else equal GS is the best option in terms of alumni network and brand recognition.
EDIT: The above advice is for USA, I missed that you'd be in London. I can't opine about the London research market.
It obviously depends on teams, industries etc etc but it is obvious as well that giving an advise here is almost nosense
Hi sorry, could you elaborate? Why is advice here almost nonsense Ajeje
is this for ER? if so, avoid GS at all costs (not even top 10 in research). DB used to be good but gone downhill recently. UBS a clear winner here... they are top BB in Europe for ER and investing significantly. I'm not at any of these 3 but UBS is a no brainer for Europe
It is for ER
Among the three, UBS is clearly better ranked and better regarded on most sectors. Probably one of the safest places to be in regards to Mifid II. The sector matters because the analyst you'll spend your first years with matters. Have a look at Extel rankings (but don't rely only on that). And obviously, you might learn more easily in a sector you like and/or you're already familiar with
