Bought myself an AP Royal Oak - Wearing it as an intern?
Bought myself an AP Royal Oak after securing an internship at a top firm for this summer, I previously started and sold a business so I bought it as a reward for my hard work and I have always wanted it.
Would it be ridiculous to wear it in the office? I don't want to brag or show off in any way but I have worked hard for this watch and it would be cool to wear as I know others in finance are into watches as well.

this should have all the answers you need.
would be interested to hear more about the business - what sector was it and how much did you earn by selling it?
Great, I'll take a look.
Started a Technology E-commerce business centered around a software that automated certain processes, built it to $700,000 in annual revenue and sold it for $1.75M after running it for 3 years. Earned around a total of ~$750,000 from the business myself before selling it.
that's amazing. why would you want to go into banking instead of growing this or using the cash flow to buy and build more businesses? this is the type of exit bankers try and get to after their analyst stint lol anyway good job.
Thanks! Definitely something I have thought a lot about, I see it as I am a sophomore in college right now and I dont want to narrow my career path to just entrepreneurship as its inherently very risky. Want to go into banking because it'll give me a solid foundation for finance as well as exposing me to different businesses while building a resume incase I want to stay in corporate or get an MBA at GSB/HBS and then launch something from there. I see it as a long term vs short term play.
Probably better to wear once you are a FT. Also the internship is going to be virtual most likely so...
Yeah I agree, thanks!
Fantastic job on creating and selling a business! Assuming you mean in person, I'd recommend not wearing this as an intern or even a full-time. I know and you know you got that watch as a result of your efforts but considering that's at minimum a 30K watch (fantastic taste btw - which royal oak model was it?), it could rub some folks the wrong way - erring on the side of caution. That being said, when you're out and about not at work rock that thing.
