French Cuffs/Cuff Links for PE Interviews

Are French Cuffs/Cuff Links for PE interview a good idea? It would be cool/interesting to hear from people who have been to PE interviews to sound-off. I am assuming a simple button down shirt with no frills attached would be the best idea, but then I keep hearing how you want to stick out a bit. Any comments/thoughts/suggestions would be interesting to hear.

absolutely agree with the above poster. you don't want to stand out on either end of the clothing spectrum, especially on an interview. granted i'm not in PE, nor have i interviewed for PE, but i would definitely stay away from cuff links in this situation.

I agree, standard in UK, I would never wear anything other than french cuffs to an interview

Dark plain suit, white shirt with french cuffs, cufflinks as plain as you can get and a plain tie, I recommend red but it's a personal choice

Good luck

Definitely do not wear cufflinks for analyst level interviews in the US. I used to make this mistake before a friend (who did 2 years in IB and now works at a respectable PE shop) gave me that advice. You will likely come off as being pretentious if you wear them.

Can't speak to Europe, but I would follow whatever the traditional / conservative custom is there.

Is this for real? Do interviewers really judge you based on what type of cuffs you have? If you go into an interview and totally destroy every question they ask, they won't care what kind of cuffs you chose to wear that day. As long as you don't look rediculous in a bright pink shirt or something, you'll be fine either way.
