How to dress "sharp" as an overweight guy?

Would genuinely appreciate some help. In need of some more "sharp" looking business casual clothing.

Long story short, gained a lot of weight over the last two years. No one to blame other than myself. I'm working on slimming down. 5'11" 260lbs

Finding sharp looking clothes as an overweight guy is tough. I genuinely hate shopping as it just makes me feel horrible.

I am not trying to look flashy, stylish, or anything like that. I just don't want to look like a slob. To those that have been, or are currently in the same situation as I am, any suggestions? Brands, styles, etc? I will take any help I can get.

If you can do so financially, I’d look into tailored work shirts from places like Proper Cloth or some other brand. I recommend this because weight gain usually accumulates in certain areas - not evenly. If you tailor your clothes, the fit will look better. For pants, I’d go with a slimmer fit if your lower body permits according to your size or sizing up. The purpose is to avoid buying these 3XL shirts only because your stomach sticks out more than the rest of your body. Then your clothes end up looking oversized and saggy, but I’m confident you can work around it, just can’t be off the rack clothing.

Hope this helps brother.

Two things:

1 - All the major brands (RL, Brooks Brothers, etc) have big & tall sizes. Start by buying quality stuff from these makers

2 - Try to wear solid colors for both tops and bottoms. A light shirt with dark pants (or vice versa) accentuates weight. But a solid color - any solid color - downplays your body shape.
