Too young for penny loafers?

I currently work on Capitol Hill which means I have to wear a suit every day. I prefer good old fashioned tasseled penny loafers. They're comfortable and they look damn good IMHO. I'm just a loafer fan in general, probably because I wear Sperry's a lot in the summer. Anyway two of the girls I live with said I look like an old man, and that loafers aren't stylish. What do y'all think about loafers on a 24 year old guy? Disclaimer: I'm not trying to reignite the old debate about lace ups vs. slip ons with suits.
