Whats the best white shirt on the market?
I have returned from to WSO from a long hibernation seeking some advice on white dress shirts. I am in the market for an opaque white dress shirt quite frankly. All to often, I buy dress shirts offline, whether it is from Brooks brothers or J.Crew or so on, they always seem to be just to revealing.
So, I come back to hope to hear some of your takes on what the best dress shirt on the market is for business meetings, events, or simply having a nice looking white shirt.
To give some parameters so you don't say "Get a custom afghani cotton twill blend blah blah blah" I assume the price range can be anywhere from best bang for your buck (50 or less) or up to 200 dollars on the higher end.
Tx.
I've owned shirts from just about every major name and would recommend Eton b/c of how easy they are to take care of, especially once travel boots back up. No iron and they have a variety of fit types available. You can get them on sale inexpensively (relatively). The low maintenance and their ability to take a beating + be washed normally is why I prefer them personally. Being able to get off a shitty flight and go right into a meeting without ironing your shirt first so you don't look like a slob is great.
If you don't want non-iron, then go to lyst.com and wait until something from Kiton, Cesare Attolini, or Isaia pops up inexpensively. You can usually find any of those three around the $100 - $200 mark and they are $750+ normally. Kiton and Cesare Attolini make the best clothing around. Do NOT buy from a normal retail op, you'll get ripped off compared to using Lyst to mass search. Yoox usually has amazing deals but will take forever to ship. Not a huge deal though as the prices are amazing - literally got $1000+ Isaia boots for ~$100 lol.
Hope that helps.
thank you, ill have to check out everything you mentioned and get back to you with what I get. I really appreciate it though!
I roll with Thomas Pink for all my dress shirts
Charles Tyrwhitt is best value, they always have sales going on and you can get 4 for ~$160.
I'll echo the advice on purchasing high $$$ items on sales. lyst, yoox, etc. or Ebay stores.
You'll find brands like Borrelli, Barba, Finamore, Truzzi, Kiton, Brioni, Attolini, Isaia, Battistoni, Mattabisch, etc. on those sites 365 days a year, going for between $80-$150.
They all make excellent shirts, so it really depends on what type of collar, fit, etc. you like.
If I were to spend more than $200 on a brand new shirt, I'd find some smaller tailor / shop that offers MTM, and just go from there. Hell, you have online MTM brands like Luxire, etc. that offer quite good shirts, at affordable prices. MTM is an iterative process, but once you nail it, you can just keep ordering.
Great..
