After 9 hours, I think we finally have this battle won at least for now. I want to apologize to everybody that tried to use WSO today or register. After getting attacked by an onslaught of fake users (bots) around 12:15pm today the database was screwed up and we were forced to reboot back to 5am.
We then had some issues once we rebooted (ie nobody could create a new forum) which we have also subsequently fixed.
We now have a more difficult Captcha test that will stop the bots from signing up (we hope) and keep our database safe.
