PhD Quant Researcher
Hello
I have a non traditional path and blend of experiences. I have a PhD in Engineering (honors) and conducted a quantitative based research, I have 7 years of experience in the auto industry focusing on systems engineering then I moved into management consulting (tech consulting boutique firm) and now I am considering switching into the finance world by chasing a quant research position.
While I do not have a background in finance, I am finishing up 2 training courses about Python in Finance and trading. I am targeting smaller firms in Chicago and NYC as it seems these 2 cities are the hubs for Quant Researcher positions.
Any advise from other Quants? what firms I should target primarily ?
Compared to consulting, how long Quant researchers work (more like investment banking or more like strategy consultants?)
Thank you in advance for your answers !
