3.6 GPA, Non-BBA of a Target

Currently a sophomore heading into Junior SA recruitment next semester. I attend a top school in the US, in the liberal arts college of a university where there is a top BBA program (think UVA/UMICH/UNC/UCLA). I have startup summer intern experience, IB school-year internship, and an IB internship for this summer (2022) locked up. Is my 3.6 GPA going to hold me back massively during recruitment next semester? I am planning to network, but should I even bother targeting the EBs (Evercore, Moelis, Guggenheim, CVP, Laz) and top BBs (GS/MS/JP)?

Are my chances higher with a MM (HL, Blair, Baird, Lincoln)? Also, is my GPA at the end of sophomore year going to be relevant (assuming it is raised by 2nd sem grades) - perhaps when recruiting for BBs later in the summer?

Should I even include a 3.6 on my resume?

This isn’t like college admissions, just network hard and see what happens. No one can say for sure what your chances are at a bank since every year qualified kids get passed over by good banks and kids from schools you’ve never heard of end up getting offers. Talk to the people close to recruitment and just ask if they care about your major or gpa or whatever.

Agreed with the other guy (except, I dont think you should ask if they care about your GPA. It’s not going to change anything). Can’t think of this like college admissions. Just shoot your shot. If you don’t apply you’re just dinging yourself. If I see a resume without a GPA it’s getting trashed. The schools you mentioned are pretty decent so a 3.6 should be fine, but it may hurt a little bit.

Had a 3.4 during recruiting from a school on the same tier (maybe slightly below) and landed multiple offers at a top EB and top BB's. Signed with a top group (GS TMT/PJT RSSG).

3.6 is nothing to be that concerned about and in many cases will not be the reason you don’t get the offer. Any firm/group is definitely doable with an emphasis on networking and having good experience/ a good story.

I think you’re going to get more grief about not being in the business school rather than your GPA. And that’s not a whole bunch of grief.
