Am I Crazy for Accepting This Offer?
I received two offers for full-time employment that begin once I graduate this summer. One offer (the one I accepted) is with a small regional boutique of M&A firm, but I gained a good amount of knowledge while interning there last summer. The role I am going into is an analyst position that requires no sourcing or cold calling of any type. I will have responsibilities that range from from market research, to due diligence, modeling and closing.
The second offer was from a no-name VC growth fund with aum circa-$800mm. The role was to 80% source and 20% perform due diligence. This company was a bit larger, but I felt it lacked upward mobility from this role. Not many analysts reach an associate level before being phased out.
TLDR: I had a LMM boutique offer and VC growth fund offer, accepted the IB offer in hopes that I will be able to move to a larger bank or PE within a year or two and maybe attend an MBA program down the road. My concern is that I left a good VC offer on the table that would've set me up better for an MBA, but feared of being pigeonholed in this analyst position.
Did I make the right choice given this information?
Bump
You already made the choice. I wouldn't worry now about whether or not it was the right decision. Keep moving forward and make the most of whatever your current situation is.
