Best Universities for Undergrad in AUS

I'm looking to switch unis this year. Due to my tight budget, I am thinking of going to Australia for UG (previously in a Hong Kong target doing STEM). What universities are the most recognized for investment banking in AUS? I plan to go back to Hong Kong for work.P.S. I have also received offers from semi-targets (?) in the UK, which are Exeter and Leeds. Don't know if a semi target in UK is better or a top uni in AUS is better.

Update: Australia is way out of my budget. Am settling for UK

Reasons to switch:

1. My faculty professor accused me of cheating which I did not do, and kept harassing me prior to that. He will be in charge of most of my courses for the next 3 years and I am pretty sure I would not survive it.

2. I don't like my major. It is very difficult so it is harder for me to get a good GPA.

3. Family issues.

I personally want to go to UK more but I have only started applying this week, and sadly, the main round applications for UK have closed. I could only apply individually or wait for clearing rounds. I might try for better ranked universities in the UK (Bristol,  Bath, Durham, Warwick) for Business related courses, or non-Business courses in better ones (LSE, UCL). And here is another question, which matters more? The university name or the degree? Some background info: I have had prior experience in a boutique, a big 4 and a BB (related fields) so would this put me at an advantage if I start over as a first year student in another country?

I'd say university brand/reputation > actual degree/major (unless it's something totally irrelevant, you may face an uphill battle to convince recruiters about your passion in IB). I studied at one of the top 3 HK universities (not in any of the prestigious programs such as Global Business) but still managed to land offers from EB & BB in HK, so definitely don't think major matters more than school name. Having said that, if you already have prior IB-related internship experience on CV, things should be a lot smoother.

Thank you! I will take it into account. May I ask what was your major?

I am thinking of applying to Arts or Social Science in UK to get a better brand name. How hard would it be in recruiting if I were to study those majors? And by 'uphill battle to convince recruiters about your passion in IB), could you suggest any ways to overcome this?

Sorry if I didn't make myself clear, I still major'ed in business-related areas (think Econ/Finance/Marketing etc) but not those "prestigious" programs (think Global Business/Quantitative Finance etc). If you were to major in non business-related areas such as Arts or Social Science, make sure your CV is well-polished with sufficient prior IB-related internship experiences to convince recruiters about your capability to do the job. With those experiences and a good story to tell (why studied Arts but intend to become an investment banker), then you definitely stand a chance to break in.

If you want to go to Aus, you'd want to look at Group of 8 universities in Melb/Syd (the business centres) - USYD, UNSW, Uni Melb, Monash.

Don't know how reputable those UK unis are, though judging loosely by ranking they're lower than the 4 aforementioned Aus unis.

Is there a reason why you're looking to transfer btw? International tuition in both Aus/UK is very steep so it may take a while to recoup costs even with an IB salary in HK.

Thank you! I will take a look at them. According to previous posts, those 2 universities are semi-targets in the UK.

And the reasons why I want to switch are as follows:

Based on your updates above I would say you're in a good position CV wise - shouldn't have a tough time with recruiters given your experience.

Sounds like you're keen on going to the UK. In that case, find a major you enjoy, doesn't even have to be business tbh as you've got extensive work experience already to back you up should you choose to recruit for IB. Let's say you choose to study Art/Social Science etc. in the UK, in your chat with the recruiter you can speak about your passion for xyz and how you wanted to broaden your perspective in the context of business but you've continued to keep up with transactions/markets while studying and you shouldn't have a problem with fit/motivation - just make sure you've got your "story" down pat.
