Freshman Year Summer

Freshman at semi target. Deciding between two internships/jobs for the summer. One is an unpaid "investment banking analyst" internship at a small boutique bank, the other is a $20/hour accounting assistant job at a local college. Which offer should I take? Also, what else should I do this summer?

I would certainly get the IB experience on your resume. Insight into how banking processes work is extremely valuable at this stage. Pay attention to what those above you are doing and always aim to understand more about the deal/pitch than your specific deliverable. This will give you a massive leg up in recruiting + the opportunity to f**k up at relatively low stakes. You will have a massive advantage if you can learn from your mistakes before they can truly bite you in the ass (i.e. Junior summer, AN1+). On the pay part, that sucks, but I think it will be a good trade-off in the long run. PM if you have any other questions, happy to help.
