how to work in a boutique

I know everyone is talking about this. However, for those of us who may find ourselves in a smaller, regional, or specialist shop in the near future, I'd like to ask the question: how can we make the most out of it?

The major advantage of working in a boutique that I have seen mentioned is the access to senior management you get. It's also been mentioned that this can sometimes be a disadvantage. But what is the best way to deal with the situation on a daily basis? And what, generally, can we do to make sure that we make the most of the opportunity?
