Is Warwick really a target for IB?
Is University of Warwick a target for Bulge bracket? Was rejected from LSE and UCL. Thinking of firming university of Warwick ( Finance and accounting). Or should I take a gap year and apply again, I believe my application could have been better.
From Warwick there is absolutely no reason you should not be able to find a role in IB. It's semi-target at least.
Your likelihood of getting an offer will depend a lot on your actions at university (this is true of all universities; LSE and Oxbridge students also do not get the luxury of walking into IB jobs).
That doesn't mean you shouldn't defer a year if you have other personal reasons to do so, but I'd absolutely not defer just for the sake of IB.
Hey, thanks. Is Warwick a target or a semi-target? I am confused as a lot of people call it a target but then a few also call it a semi-target.
At the bachelor level would call it a target not for postgraduate though :)
Based on the WSO Dataset, Warwick University is indeed considered a significant target for investment banking, particularly in London. It has been noted for sending a substantial number of students to Bulge Bracket banks, often competing closely with or even surpassing other prestigious institutions like LSE in terms of placement. Here are a few points to consider:
Strong Placement Record: Warwick has demonstrated strong placement rates in Bulge Bracket summer classes and for full-time positions in investment banking. This is evident from the discussions where it's mentioned that Warwick had a comparable or higher headcount than LSE for certain investment banking summer classes.
Reputation in Finance: The university offers robust programs in finance and accounting, which are well-regarded by major financial firms. This academic strength helps in preparing students for the rigorous demands of investment banking.
Networking and Recruitment: Warwick's active career services and alumni network provide substantial networking opportunities that can be crucial for securing positions in investment banking.
Given this information, if you have an offer from Warwick for Finance and Accounting, it could be a strategic choice to accept it rather than taking a gap year, especially since reapplying to LSE and UCL offers no guaranteed outcome. Warwick stands as a strong contender that can provide excellent opportunities in investment banking.

Warwick is fantastic, knew people who had the time of their lives and landed at GS/MS type places without having to be surrounded by hardos all the time like at LSE etc.
If you are in the position where you could feasibly do a gap year, I would recommend it - you won't lose anything
It places fine and is a target
met people from warwick at almost every ac i attended
Know some very strong candidates from Warwick. If you make the right choices and apply aggressively you should be fine.
Few notes on degrees:
1) Warwick Maths and MMORSE are top degrees that place well in quant
2) Economics and PPE both place well in IB
3) A&F can be a mixed bag, heavily dominated by intl. students. Some feel that is an 'easier' degree and that is reflected by bank opinions of it.
