MD ignored my emails but got hired by his boss

I got a summer internship on the trading floor. I got a tour on the trading floor this week and I saw one of the MD who ignored my emails. To make it worst I spoke with him before and he started ignoring my emails after inquiring about the summer internship. The MD (who is not my boss) will sit across me and I am not sure how to go about it when I am introduced to him,

I feel like I will be in an awkward position. Any tips would help?

It is all in your head man...just act normal.

MDs have so much going on this guy's probably already forgotten about the little interaction with you...

He probably doesn’t even remember it. As others have said, he probably gets hundreds of kids emailing him. It’s pretty easy to see an email, think “I’m busy I’ll respond to this when I have time” and totally forget because you have a million things going on.

If you introduce yourself (and you haven’t met him in-person, but spoke to him over the phone), after getting the names out of the way, you could say “I’m not sure if you remember me, but we spoke over the phone and you provided me with some really helpful advice on XYZ...”. Essentially, be friendly and don’t make it awkward.

I wouldn't worry about it. Even when doing deals with important people you'll send them email after email trying to close the damn deal.

Then when you get them on the phone "sorry I was meaning to respond."

or my personal favorite when I was selling cybersecurity. "Sorry man we were being hacked, all good now. Yeah let's talk."

Unless you offended him in some way I really wouldn't worry. I really doubt he even remembers you.

Funniest

It's probably going to be super awkward in the beginning. I would advise you not to talk to him or make eye-contact the first three weeks of your internship. If he starts talking to you, don't reply - you don't want to make the situation worse!

I don't know... Yeah. Almost definitely yes.

I doubt he even remembers who you are, don't worry about it. A MD ignored all of my emails, and I ended up getting an interview with the company by networking with other people, and that MD was one of my interviewers. It was completely fine, and the MD was actually the one who ended up calling me with the job offer.

Just don't take it too personally, these guys probably have hundreds of kids emailing them everyday asking to chat. They can't answer all of them.
