Mizuho San Francisco Tech/TMT

Hi everyone!

Would appreciate a detailed update about the TMT team at Mizuho SF office. Exit opps, comps, exposure, hours, culture, is it easy to lateral to a better EB/BB in SF, etc. I am trying to search where analysts there go after their first year but didn't find much success. Super appreciate the insights from all monkeys.

Yup financing shop only. They use their balance sheet and collect some capital markets fees but that’s about it. Might as well be in corporate banking. They’ve been telling people they’re making a move toward more M&A for years, then they hire washed up MDs from BBs who couldn’t hack it, then they continue to work on bond deals.

You'd have a much easier time going to a local middle market / lower middle market Tech IB and doing a year of relevant work (i.e., private sellsides and fundraisings) on smaller deals. Easier to do a "same work, different size deal" lateral move than a "different type of work, same industry sector" lateral move. Not saying it's impossible though
