I got to school in the US, and my final round for ML was in NY on Feb.1 at their offices (applying for SA position in HK). There were people there applying for summer analyst positions and summer associate positions in either research or IBD (in HK). I was only applying for research.

I wasn't contacted today either...

Some of my friends who went to the same ML super saturday in NY applying for summer analyst positions in IBD HK have already gotten acceptance/rejection calls and emails.

I don't know anyone who has heard back for ML HK research yet.

It seems like at least the two of us are on the waiting list.

Then again, I think all the people on this board who got offers/rejections were applying to IBD. Do you know anyone in research in particular that has heard back?

i know somebody who worked at ML research HK last summer. Research is usually really slow at giving out offers. My friend waited for almost a month to hear back.

Thanks ddmm, I appreciate that info. Many of us are starting to feel a bit uneasy so its good to hear that research is generally slow for ML HK. I guess I'll hold off calling HR until at least next week (this is week 3)

My interview wasn't in NY, but I think we had the same interviewers (Mr. S.A and Mr. F.C.?). I don't know anyone who has heard back, at least not for research. In any case, they weren't interviewing that many people on my final round day it seemed, maybe 4-5 total.

i had two interviews.. 2 on 1 and 1 on 1... the 2 on 1 was very technical and I didnt't get the valuation questions. Of those 4 5 people, what regions did they apply for. China/Hk/Taiwan?

Both of my interviews were 1 on 1. Neither of mine were overly technical...mostly 'case study' type questions e.g. if you owned a shipbuilding factory....etc. Were your interviewers from the HK office?

I only met 2 others that day, as the rest had interviews scheduled for the afternoon. But it seemed they were applying for HK...though I'm not absolutely sure because one was Korean and didn't know any Chinese.

Did you meet other candidates on your interview day? Do you know how many there were? Do you know how many SA GS plans to hire this year>?

not sure how many they are going to take. did you get asked how to value an ice cream stand. I thought we would hear back last week.

Yeah, I had the ice cream stand question as well...how do you forecast revenues, what are biggest costs etc.

How many people did you see on the day of the interview that were also interviewing for the GIR SA position?

I thought we would hear back last week as well. But then again, I haven't heard back from ML either, which I interviewed for a week before the GS interview.

Have you thought of contacting one of the recruiters?

Hey, did you guys get rejections, offers, or emails saying you are on hold.

I got an on hold ... why is this.

do they just want to confirm those who receive offer before sending me a rejection.

I want to know if anyone get offer already? thisis for GS of coz

20 on 7th ?! wow, that's challenging. I think there were about 5 ppl on my day. which is the UK side.

that's about 30 in total. competing for 8-10 places.

anyone got offers? rejections? on holds?

that's wt i read about. i aint sure. the UK day is 18 Feb. I think many are from LSE.

Anyone receive calls from the HR? anyone get any email about anything? anyone with offers?

I think you need to be able to talk and to read. I think you need to learn how to read balance sheets and income statements, since some companies don't have English translations for them. Btw, how many people get offers for FT? Anyone got offers or rejection emails?

BTW, I did see some non-chinese which I quite strongly believe they do not know chinese. And I experience that sometimes doing research for Chinese companies, their statements and mgt all chinese and speak chinese.also conf calls.>.
