Negotiating analyst salary?
I recently completed a summer internship at a BB and received a return offer for 2024. I have also received an offer from another financial firm (but not a bank), also for a 2024 start. The other firm has a higher starting salary, however for a variety of reasons I think I would prefer to work in the BB. I was wondering if it is possible to try and negotiate my salary for the BB to at least be closer to the other firm. I know the BB hiring process is quite bureaucratic but thought that I still might have a chance of a bump in pay.
I wouldn't try, in my experience those things are quite fixed and you may end up pissing people off.
The extra $5k isn't worth it.
I’m not even in banking but you have no room to ask. Think about it, this job is already competitive enough. You’re a beginner with barely any experience and there’s thousands of people wanting to work so why would they adjust your salary. You’re not that special respectfully
