PJT Secondaries vs Evercore Secondaries

Hi,

I have an offer from PJT Secondary Advisory and Evercore Private Capital Advisory (GP-Led) for Summer 2024.

I am certain I want to pursue a career in secondaries so was wondering which of the two would be a better option? I think comp and culture at Evercore is better, but the people at PJT seemed nice.

Would love to get some opinions and advice. Thank you!

Evercore would give you more options down the line name brand is stronger. It seems like you spoke highly about them too. Go with what is in your heart can’t go wrong with either pick but it seems like you have your mind made up.

Honestly not too familiar with PJT but I can say that EVR PCA is amazing. Smart people, great culture, and tons of deal flow (heard hours aren’t the best bc of that tho). I’m sure you can’t go wrong with either but would personally recommend EVR

I'm in EVR PCA and a classmate of mine is in PJT Secondary Advisory. I can only speak to EVR PCA, but the culture is amazing and the analysts go out of their way to help you. I cannot stress how incredible it is to have such supportive coworkers. My decision was based on culture. Congrats on both offers, you cannot go wrong with either.

Can I PM you by chance/you PM me? Am weighing my options here and considering EVR PCA for full-time. Would love to ask some questions about this group and the culture in particular. Thanks!

Evercore PCA is market leader by far, go to Nigel, better shop, culture is also great when you get to know the wider team

Thanks for the insightful comment, intern. Keep bleeding EVR green like that and I’m sure Nigel will make you his head boy in no time! Hey, do me a favor and ask him about his favorite memories from the Carlyle VII tender - what a headline-grabbing deal that was.

Not that I care about you or your opinion on these matters (like, for the avoidance of doubt, not at all, at all), but since I’m such a great guy and for your own benefit I suggest you mature a little and try to see a bit more color in the world. Adults don’t say hyperbolic bullshit like “EVR is in a league of its own” when it regularly loses desirable mandates to peer institutions like the one mentioned above. Nobody was contesting that EVR has the largest market share - but saying theirs is in a league of its own, or that “EVR is the best”,  like this isn’t a market with multiple products (some of which EVR is openly a subpar player in), is a childish thing to do. Going out on a bit of a limb here (but not much of one) please take a step back and realize life is about more than the employers on your resume. Cringe.

have a friend who is an analyst there and can confirm the hours. Base is 225k for associates
