Salary & Bonus Growth in the Commercial/Corporate Banking Space 5-10 Years (CA & US)
With heightened investment in commercial lending across many big banks and the similarities between what investment bankers and commercial/corporate bankers do, where do you think base salaries and bonuses will be 5-10 years from now in the commercial banking space?
I personally think that as commercial banking continues to be a larger profit driver for the bank, the salaries and bonuses in that division would also grow.
My guess would be that commercial banking bonuses would go from the current standard of 10-25% (In Canada) to about 35-40% and that bonuses in corporate banking would go from 40-75% up to 100% the same as investment bankers get.
Curious on where you monkeys see the industry going in 5-10 years and if you think that commercial banking could be a significantly more attractive career down the lien than it is today (same comfy lifestyle and higher pay).
