Should I reach out to future SA employer?

Would you recommend reaching to some of the individuals that interviewed me to ask for advice in order to prepare for the internship now that I have free time?

What would you think if a future intern asks for advice? Would it look like I lack the initiative to prepare on my own or would it look like I'm really interested/motivated?

Please no, I really hate it when overeager interns are writing me.. Cause what tips should I give you beside doing your best. The best interns are the ones who show a good performance on the floor. Nothing else matters.

Thanks for the insight. The idea was to ask questions that I think that are important, I mean not just for the sake of asking questions, like whether if I should focus on learning to model, read technical books, etc.

I would not suggest emailing senior bankers for advice - they are plenty busy with work and generally speaking will find this irritating. There’s plenty of material online for interns to prepare for summers. If you really want to speak to someone I suggest you go on LinkedIn and find school alumni at your firm who are at the analyst level (if any) and ask for advice.

Don't email asking about BS tips / "what should I work on" / really general shit.

Would 1) only email people in the group you are placed in and 2) email only if you're going to ask something that can't be found online and is highly relevant, like asking if there are any industry primers that they would recommend you read.

Would recommend only asking junior bankers as well.

What if I haven’t been placed into any group but am interested in specific groups where I had interviews with analysts/associates?

Also, are topics like how deals are staffed, group culture, deal flow (maybe sucks now so not sure if appropriate) and industry focus ok to bring up?

Finally, one associate who interviewed me happens to have an underrepresented background similar to mine (e.g. went to college in New Zealand/Israel/Spain while working in NYC). Is it fine to contact him/her?

Thanks in advance.

how would reaching out after being placed into a group look to an anlayst or two we talked with before? just to ask generic somewhat questions but mainly just kinda network once more and show excitement about the group?
