“Tell me about a recent deal”
Preparing for interviews and trying to find a recent deal to talk about. I’ve been searching google to find a deal and all I find is company x buy company y etc. Nothing about multiples or any of the info needed to talk about the deal in an interview. Where can I find the info I need to talk about a deal.
They don’t care about multiples. Find a relevant deal to the sector they cover and talk about why it’s interesting from a macro level.
they just want to see some level of interest/effort from you
Also keep in mind that for some of these M&A deals, multiples, etc may not even be disclosed.
When I was asked this question, I kept it on a high level (i.e. Explain the context of the deal, Strategic Rationale, your thoughts). Usually was never asked a follow-up question from my experience.
The best way to find details is by searching for the investor presentation. It won’t always have everything you need but if a piece of info is public, the investor presentation will likely have it

I source details about precedents from IR pres when building books, always best to source directly if possible
Make sure you pick a public company. There will be an investor deck that walks through structure, price, rationale, synergies, etc.
