Transfer to a U.S. undergrad vs MBA
Hey guys, I’m a U.S. green card holder going to a Korean target school.
My goal is to spend my 20s to 40s working at an investment bank or a private equity in the U.S. and come back to Korea.
Although I have a choice to start my career in KR/HK and then relocate to the U.S. through an MBA after 3 years at BB/MBB, I feel the cost is too much money and time wise.
Current school: Korea & Hong Kong target, and few who work in the U.S. all went to M7 MBAs.
Transfer school: Western Ivey, UT Austin, UVA-type schools
Is it worth it to try a transfer?
Or since they are not super targets, would I be better off to graduate from my current school and have an MBA degree?
I’m worried about MBA admissions since it’s going to be tough to differentiate myself by working at a consulting firm or an investment bank.
- If I choose the MBA route, it’ll add 2 more years to the time I’ll start full time job because I have to serve in the military to work in Korea.
