Athabasca finance major?

19yo Looking for an online undergrad in canada, Athabasca seems like it's the best, wondering if anybody studied there/know people that did? If so, how well does it fair against more standard non-targets (mainly wondering if it's gonna get my resume thrown in the trash haha). Wish I could go to a more traditional school but can't due to life circumstances. The plan would be to get into corpo banking at big 5 and lateral to ibd a few years in, currently working retail banking since they're paying for my certs and I want to use them as leverage when applying for higher roles. Any thoughts or advice for what you would do in my situation are appreciated.

You’re not going to get anywhere on the merit of your school if you go to Athabasca. And if your goal is IB you’ll be fighting an upwards battle.

Take a gander on LinkedIn at how many people went there and are now in IB.

The opportunity to network with your classmates is next to zero, it has no brand, and the general stereotype is that if you’re going to Athabasca it’s because you weren’t smart enough to get into a top university.

Nothing is impossible though.

Thanks for the reply! Kinda figured that, do you think I would be better off saving up for 2-3 years and go all in full time at a uni with more merit? Or I could to Athabasca -> apply to corp banking -> if rejected mba full time/cfa? The main constraint is that I simply cannot get a big enough loan to live off of for 4 years since I dont have enough/not good credit history, even with a part time job Canada housing is just too expensive.
