Big4 > Offer: Top Tier Bank - No corporate title
Hi all,
I was recently offered a position with a major US bank. The job spec itself didn't specify the corporate title as it was dependent on experience, but required 5 years of industry experience, which I do have.
They offered me "Officer" level (thus no corporate title, one rank below AVP). For those of you who are familiar with corporate titles within banks, you would know that "Officer" with no corporate title is quite a junior position. I know for fact some people with one year experience get into the company at AVP level which seems to be the standard entry-level title in some divisions.
I'm currently employed at a Big4 with a total of 5/6 years experience within major international banks & consulting firms and have a dual legal qualification (EU). I feel as though I'd be selling myself short by accepting an Analyst/Officer role when I was approached for AVP/Manager roles elsewhere.
Am I right in thinking I would be demoting myself by accepting an "officer" role with no corporate title?
Cheers!
