Buy side execution vs AM advisory vs IB S&T
Hi all,
Hoping to get some inputs with regards to some of the choices I have going forward for career:
A little bit more about myself, I'm currently a final year student studying Mathematics & Computer science at a semi-target. I've done a number of internships, notably at a Hedge Fund (~5-10B AUM) and at the S&T desk at a BB.
My eventual end goal would be to become a Macro PM, hopefully at a large fund (Like Bluecrest, or Millenium etc). I currently have a few options ahead of me, but I'm hoping to get some opinion on what would be the best foot forward to achieve my end goal.
1) Buy Side execution at a large fund (Top 10 globally), I'll be sitting with the execution desk. This role sounds exciting partially due to the exposure to trading, and multiple asset classes they deal with. However I'm a little worried about getting pigeonholed.
2) AM Advisory; this role is slightly unique as it's an advisory role within one of the world's largest asset manager. They seem to advise other large fund managers and central banks on financial markets.
3) S&T at a BB (Think CS/UBS/Barclays); the most traditional route available. This would be with the rates desk.
Thank you in advance for your inputs!
