Kings College UofL - Engineering Masters Reputation in London and Europe
Do banks in the city recruit KCL graduates for their analyst/trading programs? I am trying to find out what kind of employment opportunities I would have after graduation if I accept their offer. How is the reputation of math/sciences at KCL in europe and the uk?
I am having a hard time deciding if the program would be worthwhile. The international times ranking of Kings are good, but the national rankings are all over the place.
Kings is a well respected Uni, and part of the Russell Group of Universities in the UK.
Traditionally its strengths lie in Law, Humanities, Social Sciences & Health Sciences. I would not personally recommend it as an engineering university, and that's coming from an UK engineering student at an engineering uni, to be honest I didn't even think Kings did engineering when I read this thread title.
That being said it is still Russell Group and will be respected at all sorts of banks and I don't think the brand name would put you at a disadvantage (the course choice might but I don't think people care that much)
I find the UK seems to be very different compared to the US - you have your 'targets' like OxBridge and a few others which place well everywhere but in general the banks will take from any decent uni in the Russell Group and a lot outside it. E.g My uni is traditionally good for sport & engineering, but isn't ranked that high (10-20th) and I doubt many outside the UK will have heard of it, but we supposedly place pretty well at GS in London. (According to friends who work there.)
