MD contact at a BB advice!?!

Hi Guys,

I would appreciate any advice and help on this issue!

I have been networking with a MD at a BB for the past two months hoping to get any form of experience (I am a fresh graduate (top UK uni) with little experience, but with perfect grades, awards and all that sh*t)

the timeline is as follows:

  1. Approached him>He gave me a call>Requested my CV.
2.After a couple of weeks he got back to me saying that new hires at his unit are at freeze, but that he has made enquires elsewhere and that he will revert back to me.
  2. Two weeks later I dropped him a quick email>He will call me tomorrow.

Now, how should I lead the conversation? In your opinion what is the best approach in this sort of a situation? Should I again be soft and just gravitate around my real endeavour or should ask him directly what is the possibility of getting something soon?

Thanks!!!

I am new at networking as well but I would not suggest coming straight out and asking for a job. It has only been two months and doing that is a little premature. He knows what you want. I would say start by asking about the inquiries that he has made for you. Try to keep the conversation flowing so that it does not seem staged or unnatural. If he says sorry bud there are no openings ask how you can make yourself a stronger candidate if there was an opening. Good luck.
