Networking after accepting summer offer? Seeking advice, please help.

Hey, this is my first post, and I'm a first-gen student (junior @ target) so I'm not exactly sure what I am doing.

I was fortunate enough to receive a summer 2021 offer (about over a month ago) for a BB, which I accepted. I told the MD/directors whose group that I'd be joining that I would stay in contact with them. I was thinking of sending them an email soon now that the semester has started, just updating them on what I'm doing and how things are going.

Is this alright? If so, how often do I do this (i.e. send an email update every other month or so)? I am just worried that I will do/not do something that may make them dislike me or rescind my offer. The MD/directors really liked me and it seemed like they wanted me to stay in touch. This would be my first IB/corporate stint, and I am not sure about etiquette. Since the internship begins next summer, I just think it would be weird to have made this connection and not follow up until many months later near the start of the program. Since accepting my offer, I haven't heard from HR or anybody on what to do next. I am just confused on how to go about this and want to make sure I'm doing the right thing.
