Sophomore Internship - Doing Something Unrelated to Banking?
Hi all, I am currently a rising sophomore attending UC Berkeley. I currently work in PWM (in the office of a big bank's chairman). I have been told over and over that its very difficult to work a banking-type job during your sophomore year, so I felt that I needed some other type of experience to reach my end goal - which has something to do with entertainment finance (Goldman TMT for example). Would any of you recommend that I go and work for a company like the H.Wood Group - an LA based marketing / lifestyle company instead of some no-name boutique / MM firm in SF? There will be finance related tasks involved in the internship. Will this likely help me in any way in the future when it comes to BB recruiting? Will this differentiate me from other candidates?
Sorry if this sounds a little daft - any advice will help. Thanks!
