It's March 2014, Summer-Internship application time is over??

Background:

MBA finance from non target school at Boston (close to financial district).
Indian on F1 student's Visa.
5 years of work experience in financial service companies from India.
NO internship so far.
In process of the internship hunt since Dec 2013 beginning.
Age 28

Networked heavily on LinkedIn. Major responses were:
"No Visa sponsorship, no target school, don't recruit MBAs" etc - so NO Internship.

What are the ways to improve my chances to get an IB internship? Is that ok to go for an unpaid internship for the summer?. Should I join Investment Banking Institute for modeling and corporate evaluation courses?Should I cold call every boutique bank in this region? If the application time is over, so when should I try next?
Feel free to comment.
