Anyone know about recording equipment?
I was into rapping for a few years, but stopped when I was like 19 and my producer went off to college and I went off to rehab. I have a strong urge to get back into it lately, so I'm going to. I sold all of my gear and my partner/producer handled that shit mostly.
I had a Sterling Audio ST79 mic and a Tascam US-144MKII USB Audio Interface. I'm looking to buy this mic:

I'm looking at this interface:

and my old Tascam:

What would you go with?
Also, how important are audio monitors compared to just closed headphones or my Logitech 7.1?
Also, what's the simplest software for me to download if all I really wanna do is rap over instrumentals?
used to use cakewalk, that's good. if you're just rapping, headphones are fine imo. no idea on hardware, been 10+ years since I looked at that stuff
I wouldn't use Logitech 7.1, I'd get a pair of studio monitors or headphone monitors. They are able to give you a wider frequency range which you need for the minor EQing on your tracks.
http://tinypic.com/r/6eqcjs/8 and the Tascam interface off Ebay
I'm coming for you Vikrum.
LMAO
Got everything but my interface in and set up. Holy shit, the M-Audio monitors are amazing. Crisp as fuck. I have them at 10% and my floor is shaking.
