Ballon D’Or: France Football caught fellating Messi in 4K

For all the football fans on this forum I want to hear your thoughts. Here are mine:

This award is now a fucking joke. This has been known for a while.

But this year’s ceremony was daylight robbery that can’t be justified no matter how you look at it and if I were Lewandowski, I’d be praying to the old gods & the new to get PSG in the next round of CHLG.

But since France Football love gargling Messi’s nuts, we’ve missed out on seeing one of the greatest strikers of our time get the recognition he deserves for 2 years in a row.

Mannn, I hate this shit.

Good points but I disagree. The stats you present show based on goals and assists together, Lewandowski was the better player. Not to mention that he won the Bundesliga and is currently top scorer in the Bundesliga again with 14g & 1 assist in 15 as they lead while Messi is at 1g 3a in 8 in PSG and won nothing with Barca last season. The only argument would be his Copa but that would put them at parity for trophies and Lewandowski blows him out of the water for everything else. Standards or not, he simply did not deserve it.

The ballon d'or really has always been based on the first half of the year though because voting closes in October and at that time messi had just come off lifting an international trophy he carried his country to and a great individual season with Barça whilst winning the copa del rey . Goals and assists are important because Messi isn't a straight up no.9 striker like Lewandoski is

I'm a huge Leo fan (Argentina ftw). Granted he won Copa and it's Golden Boot (fuckin well deserved), and Copa del Rey, but Ronaldo had an absolute MONSTER 2020/21. Maybe it's the timing of the voting idk, but the man is something else.

  • Most goals in Serie A 2020/21
  • Golden Boot for Euro 2020
  • Became the highest goalscorer in Euro history
  • Broke men's record for most international goals
  • Broke Pele's record for most "official" goals scored, though this one is spotty
  • First male player to score 10 international hattricks
  • First player in history to win every domestic trophy in England, Spain and Italy
  • First player to finish as top scorer in each of the above leagues
  • Fastest Juve player to reach 100 goals
  • First player to score at least 20 goals in 12 consecutive seasons

Lewandoski's achievements in the Bundesliga are (rightfully or not) discounted because attackers tend to score a lot of goals in the league and because Bayern usually wins everything.

I would have been fine with either Messi or Lewandoski winning, but you're ridiculous if you think Messi's win is outrageous.

And if you think that’s why they’re discounting Lewa and it isn’t shady ranking that actually does call for outrage, then how do you explain Mbappé making in into the top 10 with no league title in a league where “they’re expected to win and he’s expected to score a lot” a coupe de France and a good Euro showing, while Halaand had won the DFP pokal, significantly better season all across the board, smashing it in the CHLG and breaking records left right and center but didn’t make it in too 10. Or Lukaku who led Inter Milan to their first title in years while being in the top scorer leaderboard while also adding a good Euro showing also didn’t make it in the top 10.

Jokes

The fact that Haaland wasn’t even in the top 10 shows what a joke it is this year.

Lewy should have 1

Salah should have 1

People who have crap national team sides tend to get the shaft.

Another example which shows it’s a joke and has been for some time — I’m not really a Higuain fan, but the fact that he scored 36 league goals for Napoli in 15-16 and was like 20th in voting is garbage. He also had a 3 match ban in serie A that year. He didnt score much else besides that bc Napoli got knocked out relatively early in coppa Italia and the CL. Regardless, 36 is an unreal feat in that league for all time, you’d think hed finish easily top 10.

Not following football for a while now but the fact that Maradona, Xavi, Iniesta, nd more recently Mbappe didn't have that award and the ones like Cannavaro or Khan have it make it a total joke since years ago
