Community College to PE (updated)

For those of you who care about my previous post “Community College to PE”, I have an update. I applied to 10 different schools for transfer.

SUNY Bing (Management) - Accepted
Fordham University (Gabelli) - Accepted
Baruch College (Zicklin) - Accepted
Northeastern (D’amore-Mkim) - Rejected
Boston College (Carroll) - Rejected
Emory University (Goizueta) - Accepted
Carnegie Mellon (Tepper) - Rejected
New York University (Stern) - Rejected
Cornell University (Dyson) - Rejected
Columbia University (CC) - Rejected

In my opinion I should’ve been accepted into Boston College and Northeastern University, but it’s all good. I’ve chosen Emory and I can’t wait to keep going. Does anyone have any tips for the BBA program at Emory? I plan to study Finance with a minor in Real Estate.

To finish off my little update, I am grateful this app existed because it gave me a better understanding of the different universities’ IB placement. I based my transfer list off of the 2022 undergraduate business school rankings here on WSO. I also wanna thank the people who shared their stories about transferring from a CC and breaking into the industry. It really gave me hope for my applications.

That’s the thing, I was surprised I didn’t get into the other “lower tier” schools. I think my essay was really structured, persuasive, and hit all the points of why they should accept me, why I wanna be there, and why my major. I spent 1 month on it revising it and having other people look at it. I would’ve been devastated if I didn’t get in.

Congrats - good luck.

Did you get into Goizueta as a transfer? 5 years ago when I transferred, Emory required transfers to spend 1 year in the liberal arts school before even being able to apply to Goizueta. And chances were slim to none even then since most of the transfer slots were reserved for incoming Oxford kids. I went to Northeastern for this reason since I got straight into d'amore mckim. I'd still take Emory Econ over all your other admissions FWIW. I'm curious how Emory is structured now. Good luck

I got in directly. They accept transfers directly to the program if they believe you can do both the business classes / GERs in 2 years. I took some business classes that were pre-requisites also for the program. I didn’t know they were pre-reqs until I looked to apply. It’s crazy because they only accept 20-30 transfers into the program. This admissions cycle I am sure that there were tons of more applicants than previous years.
