Do you use a Windows PC or a Macbook as your personal laptop?

I have a gaming desktop at home and just purchased HP Envy 13 ($800) to use on the bed/when traveling. Some people said that I should go for a Macbook Pro/Air 2018 for some change from Windows 10, but I couldn't justify an extra $500-1000 for a machine that has such a disastrous keyboard and only USB-C ports.

I have a Dell XPS 13. It works great for me but from time to time has weird connectivity issues with my dock. Super light and portable and have had no issues with performance. The only thing I wish it had was a nub, but you usually don't get those on consumer laptops anyway.

I find PC's easier to use than Macs, plus obviously office (excel) works better on a PC.

MacBook Pro 15" - great for just about everything I do

I'm not saying I support purchasing Apple products; their latest releases are just overpriced and far inferior to its competitors, all who have made significant strides in the last couple of years.

Lenovo X1 Carbon at work and MacBook Pro at home. Best of both worlds.

Alienware desktop from ~3 years ago at home for all my excel/powerpoint/etc. needs and then have my '13 inch Macbook pro (very old model, but got ~4 years ago w/an SSD and it still works like brand new).

I also have a 12.9 inch iPad Pro (1st Gen) and I think eventually I will replace my Alienware desktop + Macbook with one incredibly high spec'ed gaming laptop that I can dock at home and then also bring with me to replace both of those. See no reason to have more than a (1) high powered PC laptop (2) Tablet (3) phone

Have a HP Envy 13, same one as the OP, and love the design and the performance.

I think the best laptops are the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon 6th gen and the HP Spectre x360. (I did not have the budget to buy these).

Macs are a bunch of junk with year old processors and unless you haven't been following the tech news lately, they have significant quality control issues. Had a friend spend much on a new MBP in 2015 and it was a horrible machine.

I think Apple's focus on the iPhone has made it ignore the Mac lineup. It only took them 5 years or so to update the MBA.

I really like my Macbook Pro. I have the previous generation, the new one is overpriced and under-specced, plus the touchbar is a gimmick. I've found that for personal use the Mac OS is ideal and it's nice to have things like messages, photos, notes, reminders, etc. sync with my iPhone. Things like the gesture controls on the touchpad (and the touchpad itself, which is the best one I've used on pretty much any laptop) make it the ideal personal laptop for me

Fuck Macs, the only reason you would overpay for a piece of shit which you can get the same specs on a pc at a lower prices is: a. You're an editor (picture/video) b. You're an old person that doesn't have basic tech savviness c. You're a prick that uses laptops as a status symbol

d. You got peer pressured to buy an iPhone and other apple products and want something you can sync up with all your other apple devices e. all of the above

Macs have moved away from the shitty marketing specs, and it’s really starting to show. GHz on the CPU and GBs of RAM haven’t mattered much in the past decade. All the other machines are trying to look pretty and slim (to keep up with macs), while the integrated hardware/software approach is kicking ass.

Gluing a bunch of shit parts with high individual specs together is a pretty stupid move IMO, but hey, it’s cheaper.

Windows since im a gamer. Havent used a mac in 10+ years and always hated them versus a PC. They’re grossly overpriced as well.
