How to Meet People In New City

Hi, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. I just graduated college where I had a lot of really good friends. I took a job as Chief of Staff at a startup with serious backing in an industry I'm interested in. By all means this is a dream job in terms of position, pay, and the work itself. The one caveat is I had to move to my bosses location in a Tier 2 city (think Austin/Charlotte/San Diego) There is no one else from the company based here and my boss is 45 years old, and tough to work with. I really don't know why I had to move out here considering most of the work is remote but that's a separate issue. I am wondering if anyone else went through a similar experience and what is the best way to meet people. I am looking into gym/intramural/improv but if anyone else has any other ideas/opinions please comment below.
