Invasion day 3

Ukraine says they've killed 3500 Russian soldiers, more than US losses in Afghanistan.

Britain says Russia has lost 450 men and have been unsuccessful in their objectives.

But historically Putin has has been very successful in war, with victories in Chechnya, Georgia, Ukraine, and Syria.  He also has a much larger army.

Thoughts?

I think if Russia wants, they WILL win. But Russia doesn't want to stay long, they planned a blietzkrieg and mostly failed with the advance now slowing down. However, Russia could bomb the shit out of Ukraine, but by doing this they will obviously end up commiting war crimes (mistakes are bound to happen) which they obviously don't want.

I am no expert but I doubt Russia will be successful in their initial goals even if they defeat Ukraine.

Yeah, Putin is really creating a self-fulfilling prophecy.  NATO was a stupid little friends club from 1991 to 2014, but then Russia invaded and people took it seriously again.  Even if Putin is successful with his conquest of Ukraine, the rest of NATO will crank up defense spending and will send weapons to whoever is fighting Putin over there.

The 10x disparity in casualty figures is the tip of the iceberg. The amount of fake news, in the true sense of the word, surrounding this war is absolutely unreal. I've never seen anything like it before. Every social media platform is filled with stories that turn out later to be either totally unsubstantiated or total bullshit. Ukrainian fighter pilots becoming aces overnight, soldiers telling the enemy to go fuck themselves and then getting blown up, and the list goes on. This stuff is being spread by mainstream news outlets and senior government officials too. It's really hard to believe anything you hear right now.

  • All the photos of the President in gear are from a border photo shoot he did in 2021.
  • Influencers posing on social media and going viral holding fucking airsoft guns.
  • The Ghost of Kyiv fighter footage is from a video game and no one can provide proof the pilot even exists.
  • Reports that an island with Ukraine soldiers on it flipped off the Russians, refused to surrender, and were then executed turned out false, they in fact surrendered and were captured alive.
  • Multiple mainstream corporate news outlets have shared footage of various "bombings in Ukraine by the Russians" which turned out to be footage from factory explosions in China from years ago or other old international footage.
  • Photographs posted of Ukrainians kneeling and praying before going off to fight the Russians turned out to be photos from a Christian photographer in a completely different country.
  • Mainstream media outlets have recently claimed that the cause of inflation and other economic disruptions are in fact because of the conflict in Ukraine and that it deserves our full attention.
  • Not a single mainstream outlet bothers to talk about WHY there is so much conflict over Ukraine - they don't acknowledge that not even 10 years ago the US supported a coup there and the subsequent election just happened to choose a pro-West, pro-NATO President who is now saying this crisis is an immediate reason to admit Ukraine into NATO and the EU.

If a person is trusting any of the details the news has been putting out over the last week they're not paying attention at all. This is the fog of war. All we know is that there is some type of conflict going on and Russia appears to be the aggressor. Beyond that I have a hard time believing what either side is saying, especially the one that's in the midst of completely dropping the Covid narrative and metrics tracking while pushing us all to move on to this new shiny news cycle. Yes this is a real crisis, but it is a European crisis first and foremost, and it is troubling just how in favor the majority of the US political establishment is for us to get further involved.

I don't think that Russia invading is some conspiracy, but I do think that the powers that be are unquestionably about to turn things around to focus on this new threat to Europe and make people forget what's gone on the last 2 years. Everyone seems to have just stopped talking about the tyrant in Canada that activated emergency power overrides - that weren't even used during 9/11 - on basic constitutional liberties in order to crush a peaceful protest that had gone on for less than a month. He is about to be sued by multiple premiers and suddenly the news cycle has dropped everything. This is the big shiny ball the establishment is going to use to make sure they don't get absolutely roasted for how Covid has been handled. War unites all.

Wilson | "If you don't have any enemies in life you have never stood up for anything" - Winston Churchill | "It's a testament to the sheer belligerence of the profession that people would rather argue about the 'risk-adjusted returns' of using inferior tooth cleaning methods." - kellycriterion

News has mostly been a crock of shit no question, as has the general pulse that Ukraine is somehow winning this conflict. Russia is trying to do this with as little damage or casualties as possible, make no mistake they could take the capitol tonight if it was scorched earth

Only question is if this misinformation campaign is intentional to stoke war flames (some alarming war hawk shit coming from democrats right now) or if it's just people hoping for the best with Ukranians and willing to spread anything that confirms they have a chance.

The news cycle dropped it because Trudeau gave up the emergency powers once once the truckers were gone.  No cover up here buddy😂
